Category: Zone BBS Suggestions and Feedback
Chris N and I have been making random board improvements today. Sorry for the bug in not being able to create a new topic.
More to come.
And this is a test of the emergency board system.
J,
How about this as a board improvment?
We not only get to see who started the board but tbbelow the time of the latest posting to the board, is the person who made the last reply.
Also, change in date/time format as hto how we want th the time and date shown on the board.
For example,, some people may want 12/13/2004 at 2:44 AM for example.
Thanks,
John
I like that the reply field is right under the discussion, instead of having to click a "post a reply" link, big cudos for that. I, however, don't like having the problems button. I like it but I would want to be able to turn it off through personal profile, at least for the premium members. I feel the vast majority of posts (we should be talking over 99%) are posts that the admins should not deal with, even if those posting disagree or are fighting, after all the freedom of speech concept is the basis for this web site and enforcing sensorship etc would take up much valuable time from the management of the site and make it run a lot less smoothly, that was, I think, what eventually brought HotBraille down e.g.
So, I feel if people really feel there is a reason to report a post they can have one problem button at the bottom and report the number of the post, it always says "post x of y" where x is the nth post and the y is the total number of posts in the discussion. This way there is no confusion as to which post is being talked about and you can make it so that this cannot be submitted without indicating the post by filling in a valid integer in the range 1 to number of posts in the board. I think it would be over-all less obtrusive, would result in fewer reports, because you only want those who really really feel like reporting is the right thing to do.
cheers

personally this problem after every damned post is annoying and unnecessary.
Thanks for the feedback. We're going to make more improvements in the coming days and weeks and will look at the problem links as a part of this as there may be a better way and there's some good suggestions.
Do we really need a problem link after every single post? You can't tell me people have that many problems with a post other than not liking the content and that's their own problem and not the zones. It's just more clutter on the boards if you want my opinion. Or are you now policing and deleting every post that someone has a problem with?
Let's try it this way.
This may be much less annoying. It's mostly for the Safe Haven board or for something way over the line, though there isn't much of a line around here, as you know. It's a trial run, so we'll see.
I really like that you don't have to click a link anymore to reply to a topic, this just slowed the site down in my opinion. I also noticed that now you can click to go back to the main category even if you're in the topics with new posts section. These are all good improvememnts!
ThankYou ThankYou ThankYou for removing "problem" after EVERY Posting reply and have rather the ONE "Report problem with post" that concludes each Posting Topic a it were. CG
Yup I love the fact that problem link is gone. At first I thought it was used for both notifying admins about people and posts. But it's just for posts. So I kinda am in agreement if there's a problem link put it in the topic's starter post. And like the idea of the reply field right under each topic instead of clicking on a link.
hey love the reply thing under the posts and the problem reporting is better now too, though I am with Bug. I still don't see why there will be much of a problem with these posts if you're not talking about anything not in the safe havin board.
Well right now the code doesn't allow for the problem box to only be on certain forums. We'll just look at the messages differently depending on what forum they were in.
maybe it's just a co-incidence, but I also noticed the fact that the formatting is automatically done eg. new lines when the author requires them now without doing any such html.
Coolness to that! :)
Ya, must be. we haven't implemented it yet.
